Finally Moving

Brandon | About the Family,Activities | Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

I’m shutting down my computer to let it cool down before we start moving tomorrow.  I’m really excited about getting out there.  We’re going to have bare essentials tomorrow night, but we’ll be moving everything else on Friday.

You’ve Got To Love Drunks

Brandon | Stupid Stuff | Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

I got this in an email and had to post something funny

A man and his wife are awakened at 3 o’clock in the morning by a loud pounding on the door…….. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push.

“Not a chance,” says the husband, “It is three o’clock in the morning.” He slams the door and returns to bed.

“Who was that?” asked his wife.

“Just some drunken guy asking for a push,” he answered.

“Did you help him?” she asked.

“No. I did not. It is three o’clock in the morning and it is pouring rain outside!!”

His wife said, “Can’t you remember about three months ago when we broke down and those two guys helped us? I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself!”

The man did as he is told (of course!), got dressed and went out into the pouring rain. He called out into the dark, “Hello! Are you still there?”

“Yes,” came back the answer.

“Do you still need a push?” called out the husband.

“Yes, please!” replied the drunken man from the wet darkness.

“Where are you?” asks the husband.

“Over here on the swing!”

MySpace is Good?!

Brandon | Entertainment,News | Thursday, April 20th, 2006

With all of the negative press that MySpace gets, I thought this article needed to be spread around.  These stupid punks actually posted their plans on MySpace and surprisingly enough, someone had the brains to report it.

The Grooviest Motel in Wisconsin

Brandon | Entertainment,Stupid Stuff | Thursday, April 13th, 2006

I have to admit… this is just one of the dumbest, funniest things I’ve read through in a while. If you don’t find it funny within the first few dozen pages, try starting over and reading the commentary out loud. I almost died from lack of oxygen this afternoon I was laughing so hard. You can see it by clicking HERE.

Please let me know that I’m not the only one laughing at this.

School Work vs. Home Work

Brandon | Activities,Stupid Stuff | Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

I lucked out this week.  I finished with one of my course’s assignments for the week on Monday night, and the other course I’m taking is giving us two weeks to finish the lesson we’re on, so I don’t have to spend too much time worrying about a deadline this weekend.

The best thing about that is that we’re hoping to finish working on the house this weekend.  I’m so excited about making the move that I don’t want anything to get in the way of it.  I made sure that I had all of my school work out of the way before this weekend, and now I’m way ahead.

I wish I had this kind of motivation all of the time, because it feels really good to have it done almost a week before it’s due.  (I’ve already gotten a perfect score on each one of my assignments for the week.

1954 Personal Computer Outlook

Brandon | Tech Stuff | Thursday, April 6th, 2006

I saw this picture and had to share it.

The text reads as follows…

Scientists from the RAND Corporation have created this model to illustrate how a “home computer” could look like in the year 2004. However the needed technology will not be economically feasible for the average home. Also the scientists readily admit that the computer will require not yet invented technology to actually work, but 50 years from now scientific progress is expected to solve these problems. With teletype interface and the Fortran language, the computer will be easy to use.

1954 PC
The funniest part about this is the fact that they actually thought this would be a small computer in the beginning of the 21st century. I’m glad they were way off, but who knows where we’d be right now if they hadn’t envisioned the possibility of having computers in people’s homes way back then… Their vision wasn’t that far off, though, when you compare what we have now to what they had access to back then.

I Love This Comeback…

Brandon | Opinion | Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

I can’t verify the validity or truth to this story, but I like the story anyway. I received it in an email from my Aunt today.

One of my sons serves in the military. He is still stateside, here in California. He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him, and his troops, everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands, and thank them for being willing to serve, and fight, for not only our own freedoms but so that others may have them also.

But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday, on his way home from the base. He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the U.S. flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly,” Yes, I always wear it and probably always will.”

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi. A gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward, putting his arm around my son’s shoulders, and nodding towards my son, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman:

“Lady, thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn’t need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I’ll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid.”

Everyone within hearing distance cheered!

IF YOU AGREE____Pass this on to all your proud American friends. I just did.

I agree wholeheartedly. Do you?
